The LULI academic research center and very large scale research infrastructure, carries out various missions for the benefit of the whole plasma physics community.

Research centre on hot plasma physics, LULI is also developing, usually in close collaboration with well-known French and international research teams, research programs on radiation-produced plasmas and their applications, in research fields such as IFE (inertial fusion energy production), laboratory astrophysics or planetology, generation and optimization of particle and radiation secondary sources, material processing, …, always singled out the understanding of the underlying fundamental physics mechanisms.
